On the weekend of 24–25 May 2025, Birmingham’s Gay Village was alive with colour, music, and unity as thousands gathered for Birmingham Pride. Among the vibrant parade participants was Worcester LGBT (WLGBT), proudly marching alongside LGBTQ+ asylum seekers and allies from across the UK.
A Milestone Moment for Our Community
For many of our members, especially those seeking asylum, this was their first experience of Pride. Marching through the heart of Birmingham, they were met with cheers, applause, and a palpable sense of acceptance. It was more than a parade — it was a powerful affirmation of identity and belonging.
Highlights from the Parade
The WLGBT contingent was a sea of smiles, banners, and flags, embodying the spirit of resilience and hope. Our presence was not just symbolic, it was a statement of solidarity and a call for inclusivity. The joy and pride on our members’ faces spoke volumes about the importance of visibility and support.
Looking Ahead
Our participation in Birmingham Pride 2025 marks a significant step in our ongoing mission to support LGBTQ+ individuals, particularly asylum seekers, in finding community and affirmation. We are committed to creating spaces where everyone can live authentically and with dignity.
